The Short Answer
Fieldwire organizes tasks and punch lists on digital plans. Sitemark verifies elevations against design, generates as-built reports, and documents the precision field data that grading contractors, sewer crews, and solar EPC teams need. Different tools for different jobs — if your work involves grade shots or invert elevations, Fieldwire will not cover it.
Fieldwire is one of the better task management tools for construction field teams. It allows field crews to view current drawings on mobile devices, create tasks pinned to specific drawing locations, manage punch lists, and run field inspection checklists. The interface is clean and accessible to crews who are not heavy technology users. It integrates with major project management platforms.
For a GC superintendent managing building interior finish work — tracking punch list items, documenting deficiencies on floor plans, managing subcontractor tasks — Fieldwire provides genuine value. The plan-based task pinning is particularly useful for multi-story buildings where location matters for every task.
Fieldwire is not built for elevation-based field verification. It does not record grade shots or compare measured elevations to design. It does not calculate deviations, flag locations outside tolerance, or generate the structured field verification reports that engineers, building departments, and municipal inspectors require. There is no concept of "design elevation vs. as-built elevation" in Fieldwire's data model.
For contractors whose work product is defined by elevation accuracy — grading contractors, sewer crews, solar pile verification teams — this is a fundamental gap. The work they are being paid for and certified on is elevation compliance, and Fieldwire does not document that.

Fieldwire does not log grade shots, compare elevations to design plans, or generate as-built reports from elevation data. It is a task management and plan markup tool — not a field verification platform for precision grade work.
Task tracking on digital drawings, punch list management, field inspection checklists, and real-time communication between field crews and the office. Not built for grade verification or precision elevation documentation.
Sitemark is purpose-built for sewer contractors — invert elevation logging, MH-to-MH grade verification, and as-built reports for municipal submittal. Fieldwire does not have these capabilities.
Sitemark verifies grade, documents inverts, certifies pads, and generates as-built reports — from the field, same day. No office transcription, no spreadsheets, no missing data.
