A curb inlet is an opening in the vertical face of a road curb that admits stormwater runoff into the storm drain system. Curb inlet elevation is critical to pavement drainage design — the lip of the inlet must be set at the correct elevation relative to gutter flow line to collect the design storm runoff. Top-of-curb elevations are typically staked by the survey crew and set by the concrete crew.
